C+V Community Talk in Partnership with Heritage Months: LGBTQIA+ Community 和 the Intersectionality of our Histories

In t和em with National Coming Out Day (10/11), 精神日(10/20)和盟友周, the month of October holds significant space 和 recognition for the LGBTQIA+ community. Blossoming from its initial goals of commemoration 和 calls to action, LGBTQIA+ History Month has now taken on the approach to highlight 和 celebrate exemplary role models from the community.  

As we move forward, it is critical to evolve 和 adapt. This mindset 和 trajectory leads us to take into consideration the unique intersectionality of our histories, both within larger contexts of the history of LGBTQIA+ in the United States, as well as our own personal histories. Our individual selves 和 how we operate within the community aids to the constant scripting 和 re-scripting of the narratives 和 lives for those in the LGBTQIA+ community, 及以后.  

Join us in conversation during the 10/14 C+V panel event to listen how the learning, unlearning 和 relearning of our shared 和 unique histories provides the potential for healing 和 wholeness.

董Dinh (He/him) serves as the Program Coordinator for the Access 和 Transitions team in the Student Affairs 和 Inclusive Excellence division. He graduated from DU in 2019 with a master's in Higher Education 和 is currently pursuing an Ed.D程度. He identifies as a queer Vietnamese American 和 concentrates his research in supporting historically underrepresented students with a specialty focus of Asian American populations. 凯瑟琳•史密斯 joined the faculty at the 新MG线上电子游戏 Sturm College of 法律 in 2004. After graduating from the University of South Carolina School of 法律, Professor Smith clerked for the late Chief Judge Henry A. 美国的波利茨. S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit 和 for U.S. 裁判官威廉?. Catoe小. She then served as a legal fellow at the Southern Poverty 法律 Center. Before joining the faculty at the 新MG线上电子游戏, Professor Smith was an assistant professor at the Thurgood Marshall School of 法律 from 2000 to 2004.
